Interview: Nukore
Nukore is an alternative metal band from Vitoria-Gasteiz a little city in the Basque Country in the north of Spain.
Jana: Thank you very much for giving us the possibility for an interview!
Hi, Thank you for giving us this chance too, I’m
Ander
, the band’s guitar!
Jana: How would you describe the uniqueness of your band and music, especially for the people who do not know you?
Well, we can describe our band as an alternative metal band with touches of hardcore, funk, dum&bass and many other styles, we are a wide variety of styles, and I think that’s what make us different.
Jana: When have you founded the band?
The band was founded in 2004 by the singer and I, we barely had eighteen years and the begining was a little bit confused, we didn’t know what we really wanted to do, but step by step we started giving shape to what Nukore is right now.
Jana: How did you find this genre of music and how did you meet each other?
As I’ve said before we like a wide variety of styles from hip hop to death metal, so I think we have touches of all this influences we have.
When we formed the band, the singer, the bassist and I were to the same school and the drummer was a friend of ours. Afterwards, the band’s line up has change and now the singer and I are the only remaining memebers from the early days.
Jana: “Nukore” – could you tell us the background of this name?
The name of the band “Nukore“ came from a brainstorming, that’s it, there’s no othere reason, no poethic meaning, we dindn’t want to mean that we were a new kind of hardcore or anything like that……we are humble people.
Jana: Do you have any idols?
Well, idols…..an idol is somebody who does something big for the human kind such a good doctor, a defensor of the human rights, an activist who risks his life for protecting other people’s lifes…..these are idols to me.
In the music ground, I can admire many musicians and bands, but I don’t know them, maybe then they are bad people who does good music, I don’t know, I think I’m straying from the path…jejeje.
For example I admire bands such as, Rage Against The Machine, Refused, Limp Bizkit, Cypress Hill, Deftones……
Jana: Where do you get the inspiration for the songs and how much time do you spend on average for the music practices?
We mainly take the inspiration from the bands we like, such the ones I’ve mentioned before, and from other styles such as jazz, hardcore, dubstep, drum&bass.
We spend quite a lot time arranging the songs, and of course, we also dedicate long our in the rehearsal studio practicing, the show must go on!
Jana: What can you tell us concerning your success? Do you have some special things you are very proud of?
Well we’re starting to become a little renowned in our area but I think we can not say we’re a succeded band, at least not until now, but we will be there fighting for it, that’s for sure.
We are very proud of the two discs we have recorded, and we feel very happy to have known our producer Emilio Guill who help’s us with the recordings.
Jana: Do the band members spend much time together in the free time or do you prefer to spend your time separately?
We spend quite a lot time together, we’re friends, but we’re not together every day, I mean, we spend time with other people, I think we have a really healthy realationship with each other.
Jana: How do you live in you way expenses and if there is any other work right?
Nice question, We are form the Basque Country in the north of Spain, and as I think you may know, there’s a big crisis here. In this moment we don’t have jobs, we spend our time in the band and studing different things, at the moment we can’t afford to live with the money we get from the shows, but that’s what we would like most….we don’t want to be rock stars or whatever, just rock workerstars, for us live from music would be amazing and if we have to work harder than hard…here we go!!!
Jana: To which genres of music, artists, bands do you listen in your free time?
Well I listen to may genres, for example lately I’ve been listening to, Your demise, Chimaira, Charley Parker, Chase & Status, Comeback Kid, amongst many others….
Jana: Are you in love with somebody, engaged or married?
I’ve a girlfriend who I love, but we’re not engaged or married yet….too soon.
Jana: How do your families see “Nukore”?
They like that I have a band, but they don’t see it the way I see it, they think it’s just something like a hobby, that’s because we don’t take enough money. But for me this’s much more than a simple hobby, it’s what gives sense to my live, the money has nothing to see with it, it’s much bigger than that.
Jana: Do you have somebody, an idol, you want to meet any time?
I’m not really sure, I think I prefer no to know the musicians I admire, maybe then I find that they suck, and I see their music in a different way, I dont know what to answer.
Jana: Tell us what scares you?
Life scares me.
Jana: What was the last thing that made you laugh?
A few days ago I was watching a comedy show, and it was quite funny, it made me laugh.
Jana: What gets you angry?
Many things….but mainly the selfishness of the Human Kind, how we kill each other and they way we treat our planet is utterly shameful, it’s disgusting.
Jana: How are the next plans about “Nukore”??
Now we’re working in our next album and while we are touring presenting our last album “Broken Hip? Hop On!
We would like to make an european tour, and we will make it, but don’t know wen yet.
Jana: When and where are your next gigs?
We’ve hace song scheduled gigs in Vitoria, Zaragoza….some other spanish cities and some gigs in France too.
Jana: Which „YouTube Video“ from “Nukore” can you recommend us?
I recommend you to listen to this song from our last album, the song name is A.I.T.D, and I really enjoy this song, is very funny and I enjoy to play it life.
