Death/Thrash inspired by 80’s thrash metal and early 90’s death…

Jana: Thank you very much for giving me the possibility for an interview!

No problem! This is Rohde , one of the guitarists, you are talking to.

Jana: How would you describe the uniqueness of your music, especially for the people who do not know you?

We are trying to stay original and old school, and that is the sound we play with. Our sound is pretty aggressive and fast forward, and especially the vocals, by our lead singer Dennis, are attacking everything! So the uniqueness is to be found in the sound.

Jana: How did you find this genre of music?

Through playing and listening to metal. We started out playing thrash, but as time went on the sound and musical intent got some more death elements. The vocals have always sounded this aggressive, but I think that is also a reason for the slightly turn to some old school death sound.

Jana: Could you tell me the background of your name?

There is no real story of the name, other than we needed one and Roarback was the name we all could agree on.

Jana: Do you have any idols?

Yeah of course! We all have our different idols. Whether it is by musical reasons or others.

Jana: Where do you get the inspiration for the songs and how much time do you spend on average for the music practices?

We get our inspirations from different places. As a guitarist I mostly get my inspirations from Dixø, the other guitarist, and of course old school and original records. So the instrumental parts, both drums, bass and guitar, are very inspired by each other. Concerning the vocals, I think that Dennis is just inspired by his own life and what he experience.

Jana: Do you remember your first show and what was it like?

Yeah. We played in Roskilde at an underground metal stage. I remember it was great playing, and that we all were up for doing this again.

Jana: Do you have some special things you are very proud of?

That we don’t follow the trend in the metal milieu in Denmark, and that we keep it true and old school. I do not know if that is a special thing, but it matters to the band. In Denmark the “core” bands are emerging everywhere, and us in the band can’t stand those genres. Metalcore, Deathcore and how hardcore have changed from original sound to the new sound (old hardcore is the shit!). But we just think of it as shitty metal.

Jana: What are your strengths?

Our biggest strength is that we all have something to contribute to the music throughout the band. And also that we evolve very quickly, and so does the quality of the music. We think 😉

Jana: Are you an organized person?

The organized person in this band is Dennis. He has a print of everything!

Jana: Do you work well under pressure?

I think so. We recorded our first EP in a weekend where we also played a Saturday night concert and managed to get a fine EP production out of it. Starting Saturday morning with drum tracks, then went playing, and then came Sunday and finished bass, guitar, and also mix. So yeah, I think so.

Jana: What are your weaknesses?

Now and then band members getting obnoxious drunk, but I do not know if that counts!

Jana: What gets you angry?

Core and Mirza.

Jana: What are your long term goals?

Getting our music distributed to as many people as possible, and the dream is of course making a living out of it.

Jana: What does success mean to you?

Live shows and records.

Jana: What does failure mean to you?

No live shows and no records.

Jana: What was the last thing that made you laugh?

The newest Breaking Bad episode…

Jana: What is the most recent movie you saw?

Half Baked.

Jana: Do you have somebody, an idol, you want to meet any time?

Jana: What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Jana: When and where are your next gigs?

In October I think. We have taken a break from performing right now, because Dennis just became a father to a little boy.
