Interview: Septekh from Sweden
Jana: Thank you very much for giving us the possibility for an interview!
Staffan: You’re welcome and thank you.
Jana: When have you founded the band?
Staffan: in 2008.
Jana: How did you find this genre of music and how did you meet each other?
Staffan: Well it was not that hard to find. Metal is all around us here and in our blood. Most of us have been listening to metal in one form or other for a long time. Some of us were friends and knew each other before the band and others were not. we were introduced through mutual friends and cataclysmic but lucky circumstances.
Jana: The name “Septekh” – could you tell us the background of this name?
Staffan: It’s another name for Seth. Fitting in many ways. We found it in a an antique book.
Jana: Do you have any idols?
Staffan: Yes, still some. But more normal „everyday heroes“ nowadays. Idols are for the young and naive, which I am not anymore (sadly) I can also become obsessed with some bands and music so that it borders on full on idol worship at least for a while.
Jana: Where do you get the inspiration for the songs and how much time do you spend on average for the music practices?
Staffan: Not enough time. It depends. The closer you get to a recording session the more you practice. It’s like homework; you always start too late. Inspiration comes in many forms. It can be out of nowhere on a cloudy day. A lot of times we also jam stuff out. But there is no set formula.
Jana: What can you tell us concerning your success? Do you have some special things you are very proud of?
Staffan: Just the music in general. I think we are pretty good songwriters. Also the video for Burn It To The Ground and our cover for the latest release Plan For World Domination.
Jana: Do the band members spend much time together in the free time or do you prefer to spend your time separately?
Staffan: Not much but it happens. Some of us live many many miles away and other members see each other every day so it’s a bit of both.
Jana: How do you live in you way expenses and if there is any other work right?
Staffan: Fortunately we make so much money right now off the music that we all have new cars, houses and wives.
Jana: To which genres of music, artists, bands do you listen in your free time?
Staffan: Anything that’s good basically. I can’t get enough of the latest records by Obliteration and Queens Of The Stone Age for example.
Jana: Are you in love with somebody, engaged or married?
Staffan: Yes.
Jana: How do your families see “Septekh”?
Staffan: They love it! My mom does not like the music but she loves the band.
Jana: Do you have somebody, an idol, you want to meet any time?
Staffan: Jean Michelle Jarre.
Jana: How are the next plans about “Septekh”?
Staffan: To tour and promote „Plan For World Domination“ as much as possible. We also have most of the songs ready for our next album.
Jana: When and where are your next gigs?
Staffan: This weekend we will play in Denmark for the first time! Other than that there are some Swedish dates coming up for the summer. Check our facebook for details.
Jana: Which „YouTube Video“ from “Septekh” can you recommend us?
Staffan: This one!!!:
Jana: Is there anything you want to tell our listeners / readers?
Staffan: Thanks for the support! „One can never eat too much cheese“. And be aware that our protagonists journey has only just begun, there are many disastrous missteps and glorious victories lurking on the road ahead!
Jana: Thank you very much!
Staffan: Thank You!
